Detached HEAD in git

So, backed myself into a corner with git today. Committed something to a detached head and immediately changed to a new branch (read as ‘lost all my work’).

This page saved me hours — shame on me for not committing sooner.

Up until this point, the gitref reference had sufficed for my needs.

Anyone know of an advanced git reference with more solutions to those kinds of problems?
